When invited to a trip, barring extreme circumstances, my answer would invariably be “yes!” We have a term in Filipino called kaladkarin, which means ‘draggable,’ as well as makati na paa, literally translated meaning ‘itchy feet’, which refers to a person who is fond of going places. I’m the distillation of these two concepts with a generous dash of wanderlust to sweeten the deal— to the great delight of the travel industry, I’m sure.
Many people put off traveling and I ask myself, why? Tomorrow is never a given and there never be a perfect time to do anything. There will always be papers, bills, general laziness. That’s a terrible attitude though, as every day wasted is a day you could have done something amazing. Hence, this ESN trip to Veneto with a busload of party-mad undergrads!
That said, three days with a bus full of children takes a lot out of me. Let’s do this again, but maybe after a few months of rest.
